The size of the balls is sufficient, but to wash a jacket you probably need to use 6 balls. They are lighter than tennis balls, quite hard, but hollow inside, and there is a hole where water will seep in. I'm afraid they will turn black on the inside over time. But overall, it's okay.

The balls are not soft, they squeeze a little, but you need to add force.
